Starting a marriage agency is low-cost and low-risk! No experience necessary if you enjoy helping others!
Membership fee: 600,000 yen! This is a matchmaking business that provides close support from membership registration to marriage, leveraging the connections of the long-established "Japan Matchmaker Federation," which has been in business for over 45 years, with approximately 750 marriage agencies.
Estimated Startup Cost:Up to ¥1,000,000
Industry:Various Services
In recent years, changes in the environment and connections brought about by the rise of nuclear families and the widespread use of email and social media have led to an increase in the number of people who struggle with communicating with others. Furthermore, due to societal changes, the percentage of people without a romantic partner is increasing year by year (according to the national census). On the other hand, over 80% of people still hope to get married in the future. The need for matchmakers (counselor directors) to support and facilitate relationships for those who struggle with communication but aspire to marry is expected to increase even further in the future.
In Japan, a country abundant in goods and services where people rarely lack anything, finding a business with strong customer needs and wants is challenging. The marriage counseling business, for example, currently only utilizes 1% to 3% of eligible individuals, indicating significant potential for growth through future service expansion.
Furthermore, it's adaptable to the changes brought about by the pandemic, with much of the work possible from home! Customer service can also be conducted using online tools such as Zoom. It's a job that's flexible in terms of time and location, making it an ideal industry to start in.
Anyone can start a marriage agency if they have the desire, but:
- Even if you have potential members who are planning to join, you may not have anyone to introduce them to.
- You may not have a system to manage the introductions.
- You must operate in accordance with the law.
Building a marriage agency on your own requires considerable time and effort.
By joining the Japan Matchmaker Federation, you can use member data, management systems, and legally required documents from the start. This allows you to launch your marriage agency smoothly.
